"It is good to be out," I say.

| Noblesse Oblige |
[Aug. 2nd, 2006|07:26 pm] |
I leave the steam-filled locker area and run my hands through my damp hair. After two weeks off, mostly spent settling in, the Wasps are back on the pitch to practice for the upcoming season, and it feels good to be active again. ( Read more... ) |

| Bulgaria's Second Match |
[Jul. 15th, 2006|03:38 pm] |
The long practice sessions are over, the teams have taken the field in front of thousands of screaming fans, and the match has begun. The Snitch has fluttered off, and the enemy Charers have the Quaffle and are driving. I wish I could watch them, they're quite a sight when they're in what some call "the zone", but my duty is to find the elusive golden ball. Until the match ends, everything else is secondary.

| | A mandolin in the background | ] | After a week or so of rest, the Bulgarian team has reassembled itself in France, for a series of grueling practice sessions. As a matter of fact, as near as I can figure, I was coming in for a landing in France about at the same time that Potter's miraculous survival was made public. ( Read more... ) |

| A Great Champion has Fallen |
[Jul. 2nd, 2006|08:47 pm] |
Since most of the players do not want to spend the entire tournament encamped in France, there will be no team practices for awhile, leaving me to return to London. Knowing this, I catch an afternoon portkey back to the Diagon Alley, which allows me to pick up a copy of the Daily Prophet from a newsstand. I am horrified at what I see on the front page. While I was playing Quidditch in France, Harry Potter died a hero's death in an underground battle in Gringotts. ( Read more... ) |

| | Hustle and bustle | ] | I had honestly not expected to make this trip. When I was traded to Wimbourne, I was told that I would not be able to play for Bulgaria in the World Cup, since I was no longer on the roster of a Bulgarian team. However, that was not quite correct: a player may compete for any country that they have ties to. I guess that being born and raised in Bulgaria qualifies as "having ties".( Read more... ) |

| | Kleinschmidt's chair groaning under his weight | ] | Quidditch is not like many professional sports, in that it does not have a true off-season. It's a daunting game, and if you sit idle for four or five months, you lose your rhythm for playing. So, after the season wraps up, the players are allowed a few weeks' rest, and then practices begin again.( Read more... ) |

| | The crackle of burning Inferius | ] | My stay in Britain has gone well so far. I arrived in London on schedule, and my hooded cloak and absurd-looking sunglasses seem to have worked; no one has shouted my name or come up clamoring for me to sign something. It's flattering when they do that, but it gets old really fast. ( Read more... ) |
